Washington State’s Thanksgiving Celebrations

Thanksgiving is a day where extended families come together. It’s the time when we can all enjoy each other’s company and appreciate the moment we have together. Thanksgiving is a time for festive meals with the turkey, colorful parades, football, family and friends, charity, and other fun activities.

Thanksgiving

No matter how you chose to celebrate, make the most of your time with friends and family. Here are some local events going on throughout Washington.

November 2015 Events in Washington

1. Veterans Day Parade

The Auburn parade is on the 27th and starts at 11:00 A.M. This is one of the largest parades around. The procession includes military vehicles, 200 veteran, honor guards, 25 high school marching bands, drill teams, floats, antique cars, and a military fly-over. There are around 5,500 parade participants, and the event is free to the public.

The Veterans Day Parade has been hosted by Auburn and its proud Vietnam War Commemorative Partner for more than five decades. The parade allows us to express thanks and pay respect to honorable military personnel, and to the heroes of war.

2. Free Park Day

A visit to Mount Rainier and Olympic National Parks is a great way to spend your Veterans Day.

3. Empty Bowls Fundraiser

This fundraiser takes place every year and has become a holiday tradition for 500 plus people. There are over 1,200 items to choose from, including handmade bowls, and these items are sold and purchased as holiday gifts. The local chefs make homemade soup, and for every purchase made, a free bowl of soup is given. This event is at the Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma on the 21st and is from 1:00 to 3:30 P.M.

4. Bellevue Street Show

Bring the entire family and catch a fantastic performance of live music and vibrant lights. It also includes young dancers and drummers dressed in uniforms. This performance is held from November 27th to December 24th at 7:00 P.M. The event is on Snowflake Lane and is free.
Washington State Kitchen and Bath would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, and we hope you can take advantage of all the fun activities that Washington state has to offer during the month of November.
